"The School With A Difference, Giving Wings To The Mind ™"Read what our parents and students have to say about our school…
“I have a love/hate relationship with high school; but, that statement cannot be said without a story to follow. There are more than 300,000 species of flowers that grow all over the world. They come in all shapes, sizes, colors, and height. There are daisies, lilies, and roses just to name a few, but the beautiful thing about each flower is that they all thrive under different conditions, whether it be during a blazing Summer or a brutal Winter night. I was a wilting flower, though. The same goes for people. We find an environment that gives us the opportunity to thrive. We all have a happy place, and mine happens to be here. But it wasn’t always that way. If you plant your roses in a cactus environment, they are guaranteed not to bloom, and in a sense I was in that scorching heat, but that changed when the people I get to call mom and dad unrooted their little flower from its hostile environment, and that’s when I found myself on the doorstep of the Ed Center. Here my story begins. The three beautiful women behind me invited me into their home and made me a part of their little family. They watered me, and watched me grow, until one day I bloomed. They took something that most would have weeded up from their garden, and gave it room to expand. These people saved my happiness. There’s no doubt that this experience has been the longest four years of our lives, but today marks the time for us to turn the last page of a beautiful chapter in our rather hefty novels. I’ve walked what seems like a thousand miles to get here, but I know these feet will carry me a million more as the people here have given me the courage to be unafraid, and the ability to take on life in its entirety, no matter the length of the road in front of me. I would not be standing here without my parents, my classmates’ encouragement, the teachers who have gone above and beyond, and this one person I met last year who told me he believed in me even on the days I didn’t believe in myself. Each person seated behind me today is deserving. We’ve endured so many things, but at the end of the day we all did this together. Flying away from my little nest is not going to be an easy task, but I know that I will never forget the way back home. Each person at the Ed Center really does give wings to the mind, but I think Mrs. Ogburn, Ms. Stamper, Mr. Strowd, and Mrs. Miller deserve a special thanks for jumping those extra stepping stones, because you four are the people who have impacted my education the greatest. My journey is far from finished, but I had a pretty wonderful starting place. This is our time to do great things! Congratulations to the class of 2016!”
“An education is more than books. It is teachers and staff with a passion and committment to help students achieve their goals and dreams. It is the Education Center School!”
“I wanted to put into words the gratitude we feel. Our daughter came to you not able to sit in a classroom and with no self-esteem. The child I just moved into Texas Women’s University was both self-confident and excited to take the next step in her academic life. She learned from you how to communicate with her teachers and peers. As a parent, I cannot thank you enough for all you and the entire staff have done for my daughter.”
“We wanted to take the time to drop you a note to let you know how well our son has been doing since leaving your school. Now, he is consistently an above-average student and we unequivocally attribute his success today to the education he received at The Education Center School. We are both proud of our son and grateful to you.”
“Thanks to all who helped Parker get through school. He is now talking to his dad about college. A big change since last December. A lot of prayers on his Nana’s & Papa’s part and a lot of encouragement & work on your part made the difference.”
“I wanted to write to tell you and the entire staff at The Education Center School what a great year we had at the school.
We were told that our son would never be able to attend a regular school and learn with regular children.
Needless to say, this is not what happened. Chandler just graduated from The Education Center School with a regular high school diploma. He had previously attended over 9 schools and two other high schools. Chandler took every class that every other high school student took, Chemistry, Biology, English, Literature, Spanish, World History, and Economics to name a few. Each school Chandler has attended over the years has offered him something positive. But The Education Center School stood out. The Ed Center is small, and at first I thought that might be a negative; but it turned out to be a blessing. The teachers and staff really came to know, understand, and love my child at the school. They learned Chandler’s strengths and weaknesses and learned to teach him accordingly. I was always keep well informed of Chandler’s assignments, progress, as well as areas that he needed to improve upon. Chandler was loved by his teachers at The Ed Center, but at the graduation ceremony it became apparent to me that he was not alone. Every student was treated with love, kindness, and an overwhelming glow of pride from the entire staff of The Ed Center during the graduation ceremony. My entire family commented on how moved and touched they were during the ceremony. The Valedictorian had our entire family crying. You could tell that The Ed Center had changed her too; and now she is ready to change the world.
Chandler was always a pretty good student. He knew we expected his best; and he worked hard to do his best. However, Chandler made straight A’s for the first time in his life during his third nine-weeks at The Ed Center. I never thought that was even a goal he could achieve. The Ed Center taught me to never underestimate my own child’s abilities.
If any parent has a child that is struggling in their current school for whatever reason; I will encourage them to look at The Education Center School because they really do make a difference with the students and the parents. The Ed Center is a school that is individualized to the needs of the student. Children are not one size fits all and their education should not be treated that way also.
I would like to thank the teachers that Chandler had his senior year. Miss Riche was always so excited to tell me of Chandler’s progress and brag on him. Mr. Strowd really liked to discuss with Chandler the stories they read in class. Mrs. Gleason always talked about how hard Chandler worked in her class and how funny he was in school. Mrs. Ogburn always encouraged Chandler to think outside the box and strive for more. Ms. Mullen for always helping us and answering our questions. Mrs. Stamper for always willing to talk to me and push Chandler, but also great at not putting up with his negativity when he said he couldn’t do something because of his Autism. Thank you all for what you did for our family and thank you for being a part of our lives. Saying thank you seems so inadequate, but we do thank you from the bottoms of our hearts.”
“Our daughter has come a long way from when we first walked into The Education Center. I remember that day very clearly. You listened to her and didn’t judge her. You saw the potential in her like you see in all of your students. Not sure where we would have gone or what would have happened to Avery if The Education Center wasn’t around. I am not being dramatic. The stuff that Avery was getting from all different sides was too much for her to handle and we didn’t know how to help her. You are right….she is very focused and goal oriented now. You should see her daily planner. It is so cute….filled with dates of places to be and things she wants to get done. Please remind your teachers that what they do is very important and to be patient and not to give up on some of the more challenging kids….you never know how close they are to making a break through to loving themselves and believing they are worth something. When I said thank you for everything in my text earlier. I really meant everything. You are an Earth Angel 😇 xo 💕”
“College has always been something I have held up on a pedestal, and to be accepted to my top choice school (Hendrix College) is something I did not anticipate. I do not think I would be in my current position without The Education Center School. I am so thankful to have graduated from high school with the health problems I was suffering – and to have graduated with honors makes me feel like I have achieved something wonderful.”
